Yesterday, I had the incredible privilege to stand as Megan's maid of honor. For the last eleven months, I have gotten to walk with her as she plans her wedding. I don't dare tally up the hours we spent on Pinterest and perusing the aisles in Michael's. Our pillow talks included chats about color combinations and bridesmaid dresses. We giggled about the joy the future would bring. As the day came closer, the excitement mixed with anxiety, a few bumps in the road were surpassed and sure enough, yesterday they got married!
I got to see my best friend through some of the hardest and best moments of the wedding process. If you haven't met Megan, you should know we are very different people, but we compliment each other very well. No matter what we disagreed on, we know that at the end of the day the other person's heart is what matters. I would not trade any of those moments for the world, however. Through them, we learned so much about caring not only for each other, but for people in general. She jokes that she learned about marriage by taking the things she was learning in marriage counselling and applying them to our friendship. I suppose it worked!
Knowing Megan was going to marry a man who loves the Lord more than anything, respects her and loves her well makes letting my best friend go a bit easier. While I hope we will always be inseparable in heart, she heads out to start ministry with Andrew this fall in South Dakota and God only knows where I'm headed after August. I can't think of anyone else I'd trust to walk with her.
After all that mush, enjoy a nice and embarrassing grouping from Megan and my friendship:
